The Intel 82801EB I/O Controller Hub 5 (Intel ICH5) / (Intel ICH5R) is the next generation I/O controller hub for Intel chipsets. By collaborating with the (Graphics) Memory Controller Hub - (G)MCH, it provides the I/O features and capabilities for quality, robustness and longevity. This document highlights many of ICH5?s features including Serial-ATA, USB 2.0, and ASF. In addition to the features supported by ICH5, the ICH5R incorporates Intel RAID Technology - the industry?s first RAID controller on a chipset, supporting RAID Level 0 in a dual Serial ATA configuration.
