Freeze them in your coldest freezer for 2 days and run your cart without dry ice. The idea is to use 2 sets on alternating days so they have lots of recover time to freeze hard. These type were used for years by Dickie Dee (Good Humor) in Canada on their fleet of 1200 ice cream bikes. Depending on the temperature in you area of business these would save you hundreds in dry ice costs. At our operation we use them for day to day selling on our bikes. It saves me the 1.5 hour round trip to get the dry ice plus the 65cents a pound they charge. 8 of these saves me $7.50 a day worth of ice. plus $8 worth of gas.
192/8=24 days and your packs are paid for. It's a no brainer for someone who doesn't want the hassle of going to get ice.
They don't wear out and the gel doesn't evaporate. they are very high quality and in the 14 years and several hundred that have been used by us, we have only had to throw 1 away (got crushed by a truck in the shop). When I order these, If they don't have any on hand I have to order a minimum and thus these are surplus off of my last order.
Like everything in ice cream vending, the most important thing is to keep the lid closed on you cart or bike. These don't refreeze ice cream, they absorb the heat and keep the temperature in the cart down.
