We connected this unit and were only able to get it to playback the existing previously recorded material. We could see real time video but not get it to record at all. Also the hard drive gets hot so we suspect that the hard drive will need to be replaced. We do not know the procedure and suggest that you contact Pelco.
We received some of these as surplus from the California prison system, the prisons tend to use a grinder to remove the state id plate so there may be scratches and marks from the previous owner. Interestingly, the state ID plate can be easily peeled off so I don't know why they use a gringer to obliterate it.
