The High Volume Mail Room Scanner (HVMRS) is a fully integrated system for
inspection of mail and packages for the presence of IED's and radioactive materials. It
features a nuclear radiation detector, weigh station, and metal detector which control a
divert station. When a "suspect" item is detected, the system alarms, and this item is
segregated for additional inspection. HVMRS is capable of inspecting up to 1,000 items
per hour, with items weighing up to 80 pounds and with dimensions of 22" high by 22"
wide. Inspection data is archived for post-inspection analysis.
The HVMRS is easily transportable and relocatable and takes only hours for disassembly
and reassembly. The HVMRS is simple to use with very little operator involvement. The
HVMRS' fail-safe operation ensures that suspicious items do not pass through without
detection/diversion. The HVMRS is suitable for inspection of outgoing and incoming mail
