These are new silver contact switches rated at 150mA 250VAC.
Contact format is non shorting, break before make. Mounting hole 10mm Dia.
Shaft length 40mm. Body Dia 22mm. Depth behind panel including terminals 22mm.
The shaft has a flat to allow the use of push on type knobs.
Ideal for replacement wavechange switches in valve or transistor radios, audio gear, test equipment or any low current electronic applications.
Short guide to rotary switch contact formats
The number of poles on a switch is the same as the number of sets of contacts i.e. a 3 pole switch has 3 sets of contacts. These sets of contacts are electrically isolated from each other. The number of ways in a switch is the same as the number of electrical positions i.e. 6 way switch usually has 6 positions.
A 2 pole 6 way switch has 2 sets of independent contacts each with six positions. If for example position 4 is selected, both sets of contacts will be connected to position 4.
These switches introduce a momentary short circuit between contacts when the switch shaft is moved from one position to another. This is a desirable feature in most applications where for example in audio systems you would not wish to here a click in the speaker when selecting different switch positions.
These switches are not suitable for applications where a hazard may exist with a short between contacts. An example of this would be a meter selector switch that connects the meter to different power rails on a PSU.
NON SHORTING or Break Before Make
In this switch no short circuit is present between contacts when the shaft is turned.
These parts are more suited to higher voltage operation and other applications where isolation is required between contacts.
