Blue Hamburgs are petite in size and are very active, elegant and beautiful...
Slightly larger than the spangled variety and not quite as lively, their origin goes back hundreds of years....
In both England and Holland Hamburgs were such prolific layers of white eggs, that a common name for them was the "Dutch Everyday Layer".
Although egg size is medium they are small eaters and cost less to keep than most breeds.
Feed conversion ratio is very good with these active little birds...
If you are an admirer of blue chickens, you will appreciate the rare beauty of this breed....
A bit closer to bantam than standard size, these gorgeous birds will follow the rules of Andalusian genetics.... You should theoretically expect 50% blue, 25% black and 25% blue splash chicks from these hatches.
With rose combs, white ear lobes and blue legs, Blue Hamburgs are excellent small birds that are also well suited for colder climates.
Blue Hamburgs are the largest of the Hamburg varieties and unlike most Hamburgs, will set their eggs and are attentive Mothers.
