Bates & Edmonds Bulldog HVID engine. First generation diesel, open crank engine. NOT a hit miss engine. Runs on kerosene. No tag present, so I don't know the year, but it's probably from the teens. Runs, but it's a b*tch to start. Compression is very strong. Some of the linkage pieces have repairs, and the HVID unit bolted onto the head has been brazed, but it's a well done, neatly finished, solid repair. You can see it in the 2nd picture. No cracks/breaks/welds on the head or block. COMES WITH THE ORIGINAL CRANK GUARD, not show in the pictures. On a cart. Oiler works. Engine is complete. Comes with starting crank - non-original, but it fits and works very well.
I don't have bore/stroke specs, but I was told that the engine is a 3.5HP.
PICKUP ONLY from Stratford, CT, or I can provide delivery to any of the major engine shows in the Northeast for a few bucks towards gas. (this does include the Coolsprings summer show, but I do not plan to attend Canandaigua).
Will consider swop for/towards an interesting side shaft or other oddball/interesting/rare engine.
