1 quart filled aluminum epoxy resin kit

"Epoxy, Metal Repair and Hull Smoothing Kit"
This epoxy kit is military surplus as you can tell from the photos. It is 15 years old but works perfectly. Most epoxies are very stable compounds and store for years or decades. The filler has settled to the bottom of the can (the larger resin can,) and the resin has crystalized which is normal. Pure epoxy resin will crystalize just like pure honey and just like pure honey epoxy, it will thaw with a little heat. So the resin in this kit needs to be heated to about 120 degrees F for an hour or so and then the fillers at the bottom of the can remixed into the resin. Because this epoxy has a short pot life after mixing the resin and hardener together, it's important to thoroughly remix the resin before adding the hardener. I have tried one of the kits and I know that it works perfectly.
There is enough room in the quart can to add the hardener and mix it in the can. It is important to use a small kitchen bowl scraper, one of the soft rubber ones in order to get all of the hardener out of the can, it is thick and you cannot get all of it out in any other way. If you don't use all of the hardener, don't expect this epoxy to work right.
This epoxy has a short pot life, only about 7 minutes if you mix the whole kit and leave it in the can. Onced mixed, this epoxy should be immediately scraped out of the can and spread over 3 or 4 square feet to slow down the reaction and disipate the heat; give you time to use it. You probably don't want to start out with this epoxy being warm, that will only speed it up even more.
This epoxy will stay put on vertical surfaces up to at least 1/4" thick. Most epoxies including this one are not light stable, are UV vulnerable, and need to be painted. Otherwise it will develope a white chalk like surface.
If most of what I said here makes sense and you understand it from previous experience, you'll enjoy your experience using this epoxy. If you don't have any experience using epoxy and are not familiar with the things I've described here, this epoxy is probably not for you.
