Golden Lakenvelder - AKA Vorwerk
Golden Lakenvelders are a rare breed and are beautiful chickens with black heads, necks and tails with the rest of their plumage being a georgeous golden.
The eggs are white or off-white and are good sized considering the petiteness of the breed (hens reach only 3 to 4 pounds).
They seem kind of wild and independent, but our hens have become tame. The roosters can get an attitude occasionally, but we have an understanding.
Golden Lakenvelders eat less than the other breeds we have and provide good egg production.
These are healthy second year layers. We are experiencing great fertility and have already hatched several of their eggs.
Our chickens are happy and healthy and each of our breeds is kept separate from the others (no crossbreeding).
