Aircraft Dimpling Machine for rivet countersinking ATI
This machine is used to dimple aircraft sheet metal to provide an area for the assembly rivet to countersink into.
Machine consists of the main Thermomatic Dimpling control unit, the dimpling squeezer, many dies and a roll around machine cart. Also included is a thermo dimple gun which is very corroded and assumed to be inoperable. The control unit houses the temperature and pressure controls and timers for the dimpling squeezer.
Unit was powered up and partially tested. Both platens of the dimling unit got hot, but one of the controllers does not regulate the temperture. The "operate" button on the dimpling unit operates an air solenoid and the air cylinder actuates the press. Overall condition is fair, unit has some corrosion. Includes many dies. About half of the dies are rusted which was caused by the original packaging being wet.
* Regulates and controls dimple die temperatures, dwell time and final forming pressure. Operates with single or dual heater tools, controls temperature for the dimpling process. The high operating efficiency of the unit eliminates waiting for tools to replace heat dissipated into the dimpled sheet.
