All Sonofresco roasters allow the user to choose from ten different finished levels. The one pound machine roasts and cools a pound of coffee in less than twenty minutes making it well suited for producing from one to twenty five pounds of coffee per day. It requires less than one minute of labor per pound of roasted coffee, and energy costs are very low usually less than five or six cents per pound. Additional machines can be added to increase capacity.
The Sonofresco Roaster is a "fluidized bed" roaster in which the heated air is used to roast and circulate the beans which produces a very even roast. The heat source is either propane or natural gas. The electric demand is minimal, just the operation of the blower and the electronic control. The machine can be purchased either for 115 volt, 60 hz operation (for use in the United States and Canada), or for 240 volt, 50hz operation (for use in most of Europe and Asia).
