Granite surface plates /optical vibration tables 50X50
New, 50" x 50" x 8" highest quality surface plates, on extremely sturdy stand with high quality casters as well as locking feet.
These are extremely high quality surface flats, which were intended to be used as pick and place machines with micron and submicron accuracty when completed.
Originally designed by Dover Engineering for Lucent/Agere, the completed systems sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Needless to say, the foundation of these systems had to be of the very highest quality. These granite surface plates were drilled in such a fashion so that the user could easily mount tooling and fixtures anywhere on the active area. The cost of installing just these tapped holes for fixturing is more than the price we are asking for the entire surface plate.
These were brand new units that were in various stages of construction when the order was cancelled, and Agere took possession of the uncompleted systems.
We have sold some of the nearly completed systems for use as originally intended as pick and place units.
Now we are offering these uncompleted systems to the general marketplace. We are sure there are folks out there who can make use of one or more of these units for various applications, including for precision tooling, precison measurement work requiring highly accurate and superbly flat work surfaces, work areas that need vibration damping, optical alignment work, etc., etc.
The units are available with or without the granite side structures, which would have been the bed for an air bearing gantry that would have moved forward and back on them. (We have some crossbars available also, as well as other components, if anyone wants to make use of the x,y motion of a gantry.)
Note that there are also larger holes drilled completely through the rear of the granite - which can come in handy for draping wires and other feedthroughs from the worksurface to the electronic bay located below.
The entire granite plate is mounted on an incredibly sturdy stand. The stand has casters, so that the entire assembly can be easily moved. There are also levelling feet, so that the entire assembly can be fixed in place when lifted above the casters.
