Secrets for using the rods (or soldering for that matter) The melted rod material will always move to the hottest area. You want that to be your repair piece area and NOT the rod. This is why you NEVER heat the rod with the torch, if you do - the melted rod material will just stay on the rod, or will drip off - bouncing off your repair piece and landing on the floor.
