About the Breed: Originally from Barneveld in the Netherlands, this rare breed of chicken has made its way into the American homestead. The Barnevelder breed is rare, renowned for producing a large dark brown/copper egg. Hens have beautiful double-laced pattern in gold and dark brown, while the roosters are handsome with their reddish-brown feathers, while their tail plumage reflects pretty greens and purples. Their temperament is friendly, gentle and sweet-natured. The hens are excellent mothers and will set on eggs. Please NOTE: KC Line has lighter color eggs.
