Tektronix 3086 realtime spectrum analyzer

Tektronix 3086 Realtime DC-3 GHz Spectrum Analyzer with wide-band, W-CDMA, Autosave options running on a GPIB controllable platform.
Includes:Option 1S - Data Storage Utility (Dumps raw spectrum data directly to internal hard drive at high speed)Option 16 -WCDMA/cdmaOne Downlink Analysis
Span down as low as 100 Hz for the full screen, greta for doppler shift studies.
RF Coverage from 10 MHz to 3 GHz, and base band frequency coverage from DC to 10 MHz.
This spectrum analyzer was over $63,000 when new (only ten years ago) just for the bare bones unit with no options.
Currently sells used for around $40,000, with a weekly rental rate starting around $1500. With the CDMA option, the extended memory, wide bandwidth, and other options this same model would have come in with a retail price of over $100,000 when new.
This has a 30 MHz bandwidth so that you can measure everything within a 30 MHz window, but it can sweep up to 3 GHz in one span and allows a signal to be demodulated up to 30 MHz.
High speed 16Mbyte Acquisition memory size buffer, 1024 FFT points, 1 -2000 frame block sizeMinimum frame update time = 25uS.
Waveform, Spectrogram, Waterfall, AM/FM/PM/FSK demodulation.
Demodulators:Carrier: Continuous or BurstBPSK, QPSK, pi/4, DQPSK, 8PSK, OQPSK, 16QAM, 64QAM, GMSKMaximum symbol rate 20.48 Msps
*** DEMODULATORS SET UP FOR: PDC, PHS, NADC, TETRA, GMS, CDPD, IS95, T-53 ***
Polar, Eye Pattern, Eye Pattern, Symbol Table, and Error Vector Displays.
12.1 inch LCD Built-in hinged TFT-LCD panel, 1024 x 768 pixel, XGA resolution with no flaws, dead pixels, or breakage
Internal 10 MHz frequency reference
Pentium MMX, 200 MHz controller (internal)64 MB DRAM SIMM (looks like you can add more)Operating System: Windows 95Systems Bus PCI/ISA (you can use regular cards)Sub System CPU: TMP68301 - 16 MHz
Data Storage:2.1 GB, 3.5 inch EIDE hard drive (may be expandable)1.44 Mbyte, 3.5 inch floppy drive
Printer interface: Centronics ParallelSCSI: SCSI-2 (you can add huge external hard drive arrays)GPIB: IEEE488.1Mouse: Serial Mouse (not included)Keyboard: PC/AT (not included)
IQ Inputs provide range of +/- 15 MHz, with a span of 10 MHz, 20 MHz, or 30 MHz, and 751 bins
This particular unit is configured for W-CDMA, and will also work on CDMA and performs the vector studies needed.
Unit does power up OK, passes self test, and does display a trace with nice waterfalls and spectrograms.
There is an UNCAL indication which means the unit needs calibration, or that the input pre-amp/attenuator is cranky (it does display a trace OK). Being sold with a suspect uncal situation on the amplitude, may require minor repair.
This item will not be exported (by us), and is subject to very strict export guidelines and is considered a military munition by virtue of its power and frequency coverage.
Uses an internal hard drive both for the operating system (Windows 95), and to stores data. floppy drive on the front.
No accessories included, and nothing included except the spectrum analyzer itself.
Does include all of the covers, hardware, but not the rack mount brackets.
If you are working with software defined radios this unit is one of the best, extremely difficult to find, and very sought after realtime analyzers made, and includes a base-band input.
This spectrum analyzer can span from near zero Hz to 3 GHz in a single span or sweep, or can be placed in wide-band mode and sweep a span that is up to 30 MHz wide. The wide band mode is quite valuable as you can examine, demodulate, and take apart a single signal that is 30 MHz which is a massive value in electronics warfare, signals intelligence, TEMPEST, EMI, EMC, and RADAR applications.
People working with software defined radios also get excited of this 30 MHz of wide-band coverage because it mirrors the coverage of many of the software defined radios and the front end of this spectrum analyzer can be used as the front end for a software defined radio where no signal can hide from you.
This chassis can be rack mounted, but I have not desired to do so, and have never attempted to do so and do not have the hardware.
Serial number in the J3002xx range
Width 430mmHeight: 270mmLength: 600 mm
