The machine has been carefully checked out and reconditioned. I disassemble it completely, right down to the internal ram bar gear. As necessary, I soak the parts in solvent, completely clean them and restore them as closely as possible to their original shine and reassemble. The rheostat and heater are checked out carefully and replaced if necessary, and you will never receive a machine with an old frayed cloth power cord from me, plus you will receive a 1 year warranty on the machine.
Type fonts are cleaned and checked for appropriate amounts of each letter (due to wear and loss, the total letter count will usually be reduced somewhat from the original amount but still reasonable). Old Kingsley type is just harder and more durable than the new alloy types that are available (a few years ago, I bought a new set of non-Kingsley type that did not last even six months in our store).
I refinish virtually every maple wood base board with several coats of polyurethane to a beautiful shine brighter than the original (seriously). Rarely is this not necessary, since most boards come to me badly worn and stained, often broken.
You'll get a generous supply of foil you can actually use (not 24 rolls of pale pink): six 100 foot rolls of brand new, currently produced gold, silver, red & blue foil (enough for about 30,000 impressions on the average), plus 8 rolls and/or canisters of still good various colors of Kingsley foil, either unused or slightly used. You will not receive deteriorated foil or mostly used rolls. If you have specific foil color preferences, just let me know when you email me your type font preferences.
