Can be used to locate easily if a fuse is broken, just by holding up to the cable. If there are volts present, the tip of the tester light up.
Also suitable for quick testing of switches and circuits. I often find mine is easier to use than a multimeter, with all its tangle of leads and having to balance it so I can see the display !
