We do not totally understand completely how this worked. There is tiny holes in the bottom of the 2 sections above the largest part - the warmer. It is not a percolator. (no tube) Possibly drip method? Perhaps you measured the coffee & filled the next section with boiling water? no idea. There is measurement marks on all pieces..for measuring coffee and water. We tested it & it will keep the coffee plenty hot but do not think it would boil water hot enough to brew coffee. There does not seem to be much variation between hi & low.
Condition - The heavy duty cord is in excellent shape. The body is aluminum with black bakelite handles. The spigot part looks to be stainless. There is a dent or 2 in the bottoms of some of the different baskets & several dents in the lid where its obviously has been dropped a few times. There is an aluminum plate in the bottom that has quite a few dents mostly from being removed...This is of no consequence, It does not show, & I think it just covers the works inside the bottom.
