This is a Trimble/Arcsecond Vulcan II TX Laser Transmitter / 3D Spatial Digitizer. These units are used for various purposes including 3D Spatial Digitation, Indoor GPS (iGPS) implementations, automation & manufacturing, surveying, etc. They are normally parts of larger digitation kits such as the Trimble Vulcan Spatial measurement system or the Arcsecond Constellation 3Di Indoor GPS system.
The unit operates off of 8 standard D-Cell batteries; it also has a jack for an AC Adapter/charger although I do not have a charger for this unit.
When powered on; the units level and adjust. Various LED's light up during the startup sequence. Once finished with the startup sequence, the top laser transmitter then begins to rotate at a high velocity. The unit also has a laser-plumb on the bottom; this is used to mount the unit on a tripod over a specified target (such as a regular plumb-bob). The laser light is bright & vivid on all of the units.
Physical condition is good; there are some scuffs and scratches from normal usage but absolutely no structural damage or any cracks at all. The battery compartments are clean as well. I do not know if these units need to be calibrated and I do not have any calibration history on them.
