The center terrestrial globe is made of printed gores (specially shaped map sections) modeled after an actual 1920s Weber Costello globe. The gores are cut and applied by hand on papier-mache globe spheres. The globe is meticulously handcrafted using the complicated gravure printing process that results in the sharpest details, lines and symbols.
The beautiful Armillary sphere globe stand is a classic design made of ebonized wood and the terrestrial globe is positioned inside a mesh of bronze hoops, symbolizing the course of the planets as known at the time. The globe spins inside the armillary sphere.
