This media is actually furniture tacks. It is carbon steel and the shape allows it to get down into threads and grooves. This media is not abrasive and does not remove material from the surface. It can knock off flash and burrs. It will bring metals to a high polish, again it does not remove material the surface has to be smooth before this media is applied. Due to the shape of this media I would be very careful of using it on parts with holes unless they are very big holes. I have seen tumbling media do some really crazy things like stack itself in hundreds of perfect columns all around the inside of the bowl and three or four pieces get stuck in a hole that I thought it would never get stuck in. Picking media out of holes with a crappy screwdriver is not a fun way to spend a day. This media will rust if it is run in water, we use mineral spirits. It is ferrous (magnetically attractive).
