The box is marked "MPLI Box and AIB-IBM". The box is marked "Vernier Software MultiPurpose Lab Interface." According to Vernier, this interface "turns your IBM computer into a powerful laboratory instrument. MPLI allows you to use a wide variety of sensors to make measurements and to analyze and graph the results. Three input signals can be monitored simultaneously. Data can be collected at a rate of thousands of samples per second (fast enough to allow you to display sound wave patterns) or slowly over periods as long as several weeks." The manufacturer indicates the unit features include: "an interface board - Industry-standard (ISA) board with a 12-bit, 3-input, analog-to-digital converter. The maximum data-collection rate is 75,000+ per second. Three software selectable ranges are supported. Analog output and digital I/O lines are also available.; and a Multipurpose Lab Interface Box for IBM - Includes three 8-pin DIN sockets (Channels A, B, and C) that allow quick connection to a wide range of sensors.
