Immigrants arriving to America brought the barn styles, skills, architecture, and techniques they learned from their homelands, adapting these traditional styles to fit their new locations and needs. This book examines the architecture of these buildings and the origins of the different styles. Variations to the original styles occurred when people moved west thanks to the Homestead Act. Different regions and occupations required different aspects to the barn, and thus modifications reflected the changing needs of these farmers. This book has over 150 beautiful color photographs of examples of these classic buildings that dot the rural landscape.
